The Colorado River is running towards the Navajo Bridges here. Upstream about five miles is the put-in for the rafts which brave the Grand Canyon rapids. Despite the name, there is no marble in Marble Canyon. How the name came to be is that Major Powell, on his exploration of the area, felt the sandstone was polished by the waters to look like marble.
