Marbled page from The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman Volume 3. A new edition edition. Publisher: Dodsley, J

This volume is fully bound in marbled leather over boards and the front and rear end pages and paste-downs are comprised from one piece of marbled paper (Turkish pattern ?). On the front paste-down there are 2 labels; "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the Laurence Sterne Trust, 1986". Written in pencil on the reverse of the front free end-page is "8.ov" and written on the 2nd front fly is "TS202" as well as a previous owners signature "H. Carpenter Nov. 98" with underneath "7 St. Mark's Sq. Regents Park Road, London N.W".On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. In faded handwriting on the reverse of the rear 2nd fly is "243 What is the ? of Man". The catchword is to the bottom right of every page.
