English: Margarethe Agnes Elise Räntsch (1880–1945), one of the very first female medical doctors in Germany. Her conferral of a doctorate was in 1908 at Julius-Maximilians-Universität in Würzburg, where she was one of the first three female scholars. Between 1917 an 1945 she lived at Wargenau manor near Cranz in Samland, East Prussia. She married the Westfalian farmer Otto Köstlin (1871–1945) and became three children. Their youngest daughter was the pilot Beate Köstlin (1919–2001), who became internationally known as the entrepreneur Beate Uhse after WWII. Margarethe Räntsch and her husband got both killed by Sovjet troups.
Deutsch: Margarethe Agnes Elise Räntsch (1880–1945) war eine der ersten Ärztinnen Deutschlands. Sie promovierte 1908 an der Julius-Maximilians-Universität in Würzburg. Dort zählte sie neben Grete Ehrenberg und Barbara Heffner zu den ersten Studentinnen. Von 1917–1945 lebte sie auf dem Rittergut Wargenau bei Cranz im Samland, Ostpreußen. Sie heiratete den westfälischen Landwirt Otto Köstlin (1871–1945), mit dem sie drei Kinder bekam. Ihre jüngste Tochter, die spätere Pilotin Beate Köstlin (1919–2001), wurde nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg unter dem Namen Beate Uhse als Unternehmerin international bekannt. Margarethe Räntsch und ihr Ehemann wurden 1945 auf ihrem Gutshof von vorrückenden sowjetischen Truppen ermordet. |
