Description
Français : Copie d'après un original de Silvestre peint en 1714, conservé au musée de l'Ermitage à Saint Petersbourg. Sur le tableau, elle est représentée en costume de veuve, après la mort de son époux, survenue en 1710. Elle devint alors duchesse-douairière de Bourbon. Saint-Simon a laissé une description de ce costume singulier porté seulement par les duchesses, habit doublé d’hermine, avec un voile en toile de Hollande. D’autres versions de cette œuvre existent au musée de l’Ermitage à Saint-Petersbourg, au musée des Beaux-Arts de Tours, ainsi qu’au musée-promenade de Marly. Notons que l’oeuvre est plus sûrement due à Pierre Gobert, qui exposa une version de ce tableau au Salon de 1737, qu’à Louis de Silvestre (1675-1760) auquel elle est très souvent attribuée.
