The building of the Marine Highway through pass, avoiding the centre of Carrickfergus, in the 60s required reclamation from Belfast Lough. The land between the new road and the existing streets became the Marine Gardens. This is the view towards the castle. The old sea wall can be seen behind the trees on the right. The cars on the left are on the Marine Highway. |
