Image: Image of what appears to be trees or shrubs on the surface of mars. Taken by the Mars Global Surveyor. Date Unknown. Photo by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Image was taken as if you were standing directly over a tree and looking down at it.

Sources: YouTube video of press conference on May 8, 2001. In the video, it is said that all images shown can be found at this link Cydonia Region, but they are not.

I believe the fact the link is mentioned in the video to be from NASA's JPL, and the fact that the images were taken by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor, these qualify as Public Domain under NASA's rules.

	This file is in the public domain in the United States because it was solely created by NASA. NASA copyright policy states that "NASA material is not protected by copyright unless noted". (See Template:PD-USGov, NASA copyright policy page or JPL Image Use Policy.)
	Warnings: Use of NASA logos, insignia and emblems is restricted per U.S. law 14 CFR 1221. The NASA website hosts a large number of images from the Soviet/Russian space agency, and other non-American space agencies. These are not necessarily in the public domain. The SOHO (ESA & NASA) joint project implies that all materials created by its probe are copyrighted and require permission for commercial non-educational use.
