MARY PHILBIN, one of the sweetest young actresses on the screen, won her way to film fame via a beauty contest. She was born in Chicago, June 14, 1903, and educated there. A few years ago, a beauty contest was conducted by a Chicago newspaper. Eric Von Stroheim chose Mary as the winner and gave her her screen start in "The Blazing Trail." Scored success in "The Merry-GoRound" and "Fool's Highway." Judging from the outlook, her services will be in great demand for some years. Height, five feet, two inches; weight, 96 pounds. Brown hair, hazel eyes. Not married.
