Description
English: Towers and Shichiku-mon gate (Matsuyama Castle, Ehime, Japan)："Sho Tenshu" (Minor Tower) offers lookout to Ichi-no-mon (the first gate to the keep) as well as to the front side of Honmaru (main enclosure), Shichiku-mon gate, Ninomoru (second enclosure, lower west side of the hill) and Sannomaru (third enclosure, present Horinouchi Park). Located below Sho Tenshu is "Shichiku-mon" (lit. Purple Bamboo Gate：Important Cultural Property of Japan), categorized as Korai-mon (lit. Korean gate). This gate, together with the walls attached to its east and west sides, separates Ote (front side) and Karamete (rear side) of Honmaru. These structures are important for separating enemies attacking from front and and rear sides.
日本語: 松山城連立式天守の一角である小天守は、一の門の枡形虎口を見下ろす位置にあるとともに、本丸大手方面や紫竹門を監視する役割を担っており、二之丸や三之丸（堀之内）も見渡すことができる。その下に位置するのが、西と東の続塀によって本丸の大手（正面）と搦手（裏側）を仕切る役割を担う高麗門型式の紫竹門（しちくもん）で、国の重要文化財に指定されている。（愛媛県松山市）
