Notes Indian General Service Medal 1908-35 with one bar Medal awarded to 572 Sepoy Lal Sheh, Khyber Rifles. Bar- North West Frontier 1908 The Khyber Rifles were a paramilitary police unit recruited from the tribesmen of the North West Frontier who served as auxiliaries to the regular Indian Army. The unit was recruited from the Afridi Pathan tribesmen and was commanded by British officers on secondment from regular Indian regiments.
