Military Cross (George V) with ribbon and original presentation case .1 cross- silver; ornamental Greek cross; straight arms with broad finials ornamented with Imperial Crown obverse- on each arm of the cross an Imperial Crown; at the centre a smaller Greek cross with royal cypher of King George V- GRI reverse- 4-150 A LIEUT. E. H. BLOMFIELD 20.7.18 suspension- suspended by ring from straight slotted bar ribbon- white with vertical purple stripe .2 case- shallow fitted case with hinged lid; exterior in dark purple leather with Imperial Crown in gilt on lid; interior- removable inset cream velvet shaped to hold cross; lid lined with white silk

Notes Military Cross (MC) WW1 Military Cross awarded to 4-150A 2nd Lieut. Edwin Blomfield, (formerly E-150), New Zealand Cyclist Corps, NZEF. London Gazette, 15 October 1918, p12100 - "For conspicuous gallantry during an attack. This officer, on his company commander being wounded, took charge and led the company to the final objective. showing great skill and ability as well as courage and devotion to duty under heavy enemy fire. After consolidation he was particularly active in patrolling." (Also - Conspicuous gallantry in the field Second Battle of the Marne, July 15 1918 (LG-11.10.1918). Edwin H Blomfield migrated to New Zealand from Scotland in 1912. A copy of Edwin Blomfield's war diary is held by the National Army Museum, London.
