Summary edit

Description This stainless steel memorial is located immediately east of Fort Atkinson, Nebraska. It is believed that somewhere within 500 yards of the location of this memorial, members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition had their first official meeting with the Oto and Missouri Indians. It is this spot that is known as "Council Bluff", as reported by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and is located on the Nebraska side of the Missouri River. The present day city known as Council Bluffs, Iowa is more than a dozen miles downstream. The memorial has a peace pipe and a feather quill resting upon a compass.
