English: Brigadier General John Edmond Gough, V.C., C.B., C.M.G., A.D.C. to H.M. the King, of the Rifle Brigade, Chief of Staff of the First Army British Expeditionary Force in France. Younger son of General Sir Charles Gough, V.C., G.V.B., Born October 25 1871, He died at Estaires on Feb 22 1915 of wounds inflicted on Feb 20 and was created after his death a Knight Commander of the Bath in recognition of his most distinguished service.
