Description

O Menir do Monte dos Almendres, de origem neolítica e com cerca de seis mil anos, é um grande menir isolado que está situado a cerca de dois quilómetros do Cromeleque dos Almendres. O menir, assim como o cromeleque, fica em Évora, no Alto Alentejo. O menir, de granito e com cerca de três metros de altura, pesa cerca de dez toneladas. Tanto pode representar o chefe de uma tribo, como ser um símbolo de fertilidade ou até, simplesmente, um marco para delimitar território. A parte de cima está decorada com algumas gravuras de significado desconhecido. Lendas locais referem que o Menir dos Almendres será o túmulo de uma princesa moura.
