| Description |
English: A Sikorsky H-34 helicopter exhibited at Meravo. Serial number 58-333. A medium sized transport helicopter. Built by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in 1956. Wright R-1820-84 Cyclone radial engine with 9 cylinders. Cylinder volume 29.88 liters. 1529 horsepower. 200 km/h. Range 550 km. Net weight 3583 kg. Maximum startweight 6350 kg. 12 passengers. At first used by Sabena for the shuttle service Brussels-Duisburg-Dortmund. 1963-1970s in use with the Belgian Airforce. In 1978 five such helicopters came to Meravo for transport of passengers and cargo, and for construction and logistic flights, partly in mountainous areas. The 58-333 was in service till 1985. One helicopter of this type is still in use for movie, nostalgic and panoramic flights. |
