English: This image is a variant labelled map of a map made by the thermal emission spectrometer (TES) aboard NASA's Mars Global Surveyor satellite orbiting Mars. The TES map data was collected between 1997 and 2004. The TES map image is a non-copyright image courtesy of the US Federal Government. The additions to the NASA TES map include: the scale bar, the lines of latitude (including the equator) and longitude; the black ellipse on the west side was the Target Landing Area (labelled TLA) for the landing of NASA's MER Opportunity; the blue line starting in the TLA and labelled OT was the route of the rover Opportunity's traverse across the Meridiani Planum between 2004 and 2018; one large crater in the south-west part of the map is labelled with the crater's name, Bopolu Crater.
