Die im Hintergrund sichtbare Leninstatue wurde 1997 von Koop Tjuchem auf den Hof seiner Firma in Tjuchem (Niederlande) gebracht und dort angeblich als Warnung vor dem Kommunismus aufgestellt. The Lenin statue visible in the background was brought to the yard of Koop Tjuchem, Henk Koop’s company in Tjuchem (Netherlands), in 1997 and erected there allegedly as a warning against communism. Nederlands: De Geisel loopt langs het voetpad achter het beeld van Lenin aan de Gotthard-Teich.
1971–1991 stond het beeld (9 meter hoog, 17.000 kilo) in Merseburg bij Leipzig. Daarna stond het 6 jaar in een loods opgeslagen. Toen zakenman Henk Koop uit Tjuchem in 1997 het vliegveld kocht waarop die hangar stond, kreeg hij het beeld erbij. Hij zette het bij zijn bedrijf in Tjuchem (Slochteren) neer als blikvanger. Van 2009-2010 stond het bij Twentse Welle (tegenwoordig De Museumfabriek) in Roombeek (Enschede) bij een tentoonstelling over de DDR. Daarna ging het naar Fontana Bad Nieuweschans, weer als blikvanger, naast het bronnenbad. In 2012/2013 stond het in Assen als trekker voor een tentoonstelling van Sovjetkunst, waarna het weer terug ging naar Nieuweschans. Vandaar vertrok het in 2019 naar een industrieterrein in Zuidbroek. Daar stond het beeld in elk geval eind 2022 nog stof te vergaren.
