Description
Deutsch: Entstehung von Peroxinitrit und dessen potenziellen Reaktionsmöglichkeiten im menschlichen Stoffwechsel. Peroxinitrit (ONOO) bzw. Peroxisalpetersäure (ONOOH) können direkt mit verschiedenen Biomolekülen reagieren ((a) und (b)). Die Reaktion von Peroxinitrit mit Kohlenstoffdioxid (CO2) läuft besonders schnell ab und führt zur Entstehung von radikalischem Stickstoffdioxid (·NO2) und Carbonat-Radikalanionen (CO3·–) (c), die ihrerseits wiederum Proteine und DNS schädigen können (d). Peroxisalpetersäure, die leicht Zellmembranen passiert (e), kann in hydrophober Umgebung in Hydroxyl- (·OH) und Stickstoffdioxid-Radikale zerfallen (f) und dort Lipide und Proteine schädigen (g).
