Description
English: The south eastern region of Gujarat is surrounded with hills, rivers and green forests. The delta of three rivers, namely, Narmada, Orsang and Hearn is called Mewas. Three tribes called Bhil, Vasava and Tadvi live in Mewas. Popularly called ‘Mewasi Vanvasis’, are laborious and fun loving. On the eve of engagements, i.e., "Chandla Sagai" the young boys and girls of both the sides, bride as well as bridegroom, dance with full joy and enthusiasm. Big size drums (Dhol), small size drums (Timli), Bronze Plate (Thali), single face drums (Nagari) are used for rhythms. Shehnai (Sarnai) provides melody to this spectacular dance, Colourful costumes, supple movements and innovative actions enhance the beauty and triumph of Mewasi
