on has been most carefully watched.The uniform failure to find the weevil feeding upon any other plantmakes it practically certain that cotton is its only food plant. Ofcourse, t he insect sometimes alights upon other plants, as it does uponfence posts and other objects. Such occurrences are altogether acci-dental. Frequent reports of the finding of the weevil breeding inother plants are due to mistaking some other insect for the enemy ofcot ton. LIFE HISTORY. SUMMARY.1 The egg is deposited by the female weevil in a cavity formed byeating into a cotton square n\- boll. The egg hatches in a few daysand the footless grub begins to \\h^\. making a larger place for itselfgrows.
