English: Ministers of Defence of Ukraine and Canada discuss prospects of bilateral cooperation

On September 26, Minister of Defence of Ukraine General of the Army of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak and Minister of National Defence of Canada Harjit Singh Sajjan held talks in Kyiv. “We have discussed the issue of Canada’s support of international efforts regarding the UN peacekeeping mission in east of Ukraine and main approaches to this process,” General Poltorak stressed. We also considered the prospects of defence cooperation with the Canadian party, such as inclusion of Ukraine to the List of countries to which arms export is possible, acquisition of armoured equipment, etc., as well launch of large-scale defence cooperation between Ukraine and Canada based on agreement signed by Ministries of Defence of the two countries.

Українська: 26 вересня, у Києві Міністр оборони України генерал армії України Степан Полторак провів зустріч з канадським колегою Хаджит Саджжаном.

– Ми обговорили питання підтримки Канадою міжнародних зусиль щодо розгортання миротворчої місії ООН на Сході України та головні підходи до організації цього процесу, – наголосив під час спілкування з журналістами генерал армії України Степан Полторак.

Також під час діалогу з канадською стороною були розглянуті перспективи співпраці у військово-технічній сфері, а саме, включення України до «Переліку країн, до яких можливий експорт зброї», закупівля броньованої техніки, обладнання та екіпіровки, налагодження спільного виробництва військової техніки та озброєння в Україні, а також запуск повномасштабного оборонного співробітництва між Україною та Канадою на основі домовленості, підписаної між міністерствами оборони двох країн.
