Русский: Это картина немецкого художника Якоба Филиппа Гаккерта «Сожжение турецкого флота в Митиленской гавани 2 ноября 1771 года». Картина написана специально для Чесменского зала Большого Петергофского дворца в 1775 году. На картине описан эпизод русско-турецкой войны 1768-1774 годов — атака русского флота на гавань Митилены 2(13)ноября 1771 года. На переднем плане — сторожевая восьмиугольная башня Митиленской гавани со спущенным турецким и развевающимся Андреевским флагом. На башне — русские матросы, у подножия башни — тела мертых турок, левее — фигуры двух воинов-греков. На втором плане слева, между маяками гавани и у берега,—русские шлюпки с войсками десанта; справа, у края картины,—пехотинцы, продолжающие стрелять по крепостным сооружениям. На заднем плане — горящие на стапелях турецкие недостроенные суда и охваченные пожаром здания Адмиралтейства, рядом — готовящиеся к отплытию русские войска.
