Summary
editDescriptionMk. XIV computor.jpg |
English: The "computor" (as it was then known) of the RAF Mk. XIVA bombsight. This is one half of the system, the other is the "sighting head" that is shown separately.
The computor had only four major controls, the wind direction and speed set on the blue dials, and the bomb's terminal velocity and the altitude of the target, set on the green dials. Several windows that display output values like airspeed can be seen. The square in the upper right normally held a card with levelling and bomb data, held in metal clips that are missing on this example. The fittings for suction air, pressurized air, and the inputs from the pitot tube and static air fittings can be seen on the left. On the lower right are the outputs to the sighting head. The scales that would normally appear in front of the various reading windows (like "COURSE") are missing in this example. |
