Description |
Nederlands: Dit beeld werd waarschijnlijk in het cekpa-vrouwengenootschap van de Fodonon gebruikt. Cekpa betekent letterlijk 'vrouwenporo' (poro is dé socioculturele instelling die instaat voor de vorming van de jeugd). Tijdens de begrafenis van een lid van het genootschap dansen de cekpa-vrouwen met grote beelden op hun hoofd (zittende vrouwen of vrouw met kind aan de borst). Het cekpa-genootschap heeft zeer bedreven vrouwelijke muzikanten die tijdens begrafenisplechtigheden op rechtstaande trommels spelen. Zij zingen liederen met een uitgesproken sexuele connotatie waarin vaak de spot wordt gedreven met de mannen. Net zoals de poro van de mannen heeft ook de cekpa-bond geheime voorwerpen die alleen geïnitieerden mogen zien. Wanneer een man deze objecten ziet of aanraakt, zou hij door ongeluk of misschien zelfs door de dood getroffen worden.
Beschrijving Op een krukje gezeten antropomorfe, vrouwelijke figuur met kind aan de geprononceerde borsten. Smalle lange romp. Om de bovenarmen drie, in hoogreliëf aangebrachte banden. Haardracht: een hoog opgewerkte kam. Sporen van gebruikspatina. |
