Español: El morichal en su conjunto representa un reservorio de vida, dado que al hacer parte de los afloramientos de aguas subterraneas suple la necesidad de líquido y alimento a diversas especies de peces, anfibios, reptiles, aves y mamíferos (incluyendo al hombre y los animales domésticos) que habitan en sus cercanías durante la mayor parte del año, El incremento de las temperaturas en los meces de sequía ha logrado secar por algunos meses estos depositos de agua, lo que genera un impacto negativo en los sistemas biológicos que allí existen.
