English: Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 400 Northampton Street, Buffalo, New York, April 2020. Erected in 1903, this imposing brick edifice was designed in the Gothic Revival style by the father-and-son architect team of August and Richard Minks. The most interesting design feature of the church is almost undoubtedly the unique corbel tables found on the Northampton Street façade above the rose window, as well as surrounding the steeple at a similar height; they give the impression of nothing so much as droplets of water coming from the eaves of the roof. Notable also are the quatrefoil patterns on the lateral windows in the tower and next to the rose window, executed in the European style. Concordia Lutheran Church was the original occupant of the building, founded in 1891; they held services in the German language originally, but their switch to English in 1893 kicked off a period of dramatic growth for the church. Concordia soldiered on despite changing neighborhood demographics before finally disbanding in 1994.
