DescriptionMozameta (17743272738).jpg |
The village of Motsameta is situated 6 km from Kutaisi. This little monastery has a very beautiful view over the gorge of the river Tskhastsitela (Red Water). The name of the village is connected with the names of two brothers, David and Konstantine Mkheidze who died as heroes in an unfair battle against Arabs in the 8th century. In the 11th century King Bagrat III built a monastery to immortalize the memory of the national heroes. To make your dearest wish come true, simply crawl three times under the tomb of the two princely martyrs to whom this church is dedicated. Locals say that it never fails! |
