allied himself with a number of organizations, becoming adirector of the Genesee Valley Trust Company and a member of theGenesee Valley Club, of the Yacht Club and the Rochester Club,Masonic order and the Rochester Country Club. He is a life memberof the Rochester Athletic Club, and connected with several large busi-ness interests. Mr. Dunn was nominated for State Senator by the Republicansin 1906, and received 12,696 votes to 9,917 votes cast for his Dem-ocratic opponent. On entering the Senate he was appointed a memberof these committees, Cities, Railroads, Banks, Public Health, Tradesand Manufactures. In the fall of 1908 he was nominated for StateTreasurer and was elected. Senator Dunn was appointed by Governor Hughes to be Presi- 509 ^io New York at Jamestown dent of the New York State Commission to the Jamestown Expo-sition. He was indefatigable in his efforts to discharge the dutieswith credit to his State and only praise was heard regarding hisremarkably successful management.

MRS. DONALD MCLEANVice-President Mrs. Donald McLeanVice-President MRS. Donald McLean, member and Vice-President of the NewYork State Commission to the Jamestown Exposition, andPresident-General of the Daughters of the American Revolu-tion, was born in Prospect Hall, Frederick, Md.; and is the daughterof Judge and Mrs. John Ritchie. Her father was judge of the Courtof Appeals of Maryland, and served in the National Congress beforehis elevation to the bench. Mrs. McLeans grandfather was Judge William P. Maulsby,andher grandmother, Emily Nelson (for whom Mrs. McLean is named),was the daughter of General Roger Nelson, who was at college, a boyof sixteen, when the Declaration of Independence was signed. Heran away from the university and joined the Revolutionary forces.He was commissioned Lieutenant, and afterwards breveted Brigadier-General for conspicuous bravery on the field of battle. Later in lifehe served in the National Congress, and afterward was placed uponthe bench of his native
