I went to the Open Day at the Museum Collections Centre - 25 Dollman Street on the 13th of May 2012. At the Dollman Street Stores they have objects that are not currently on display in the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery or Think Tank. Some items used to be in the old Museum of Science & Industry on Newhall Street. The garage area of the warehouse with old cars, motorbikes etc. Finally I have found the statue of George Dawson at Dollman Street. It used to be in Chamberlain Square (a long time ago). It was near the fountain and Chamberlain Memorial. Statue of Dawson 1821 - 1876 Dawson was a non-conformist preacher who advocated a "civic gospel" and campaigned for civic reform. Public Art Collection. When it was in Chamberlain Square it was Grade II listed. Statue of George Dawson and Surrounding Railings, Birmingham CHAMBERLAIN SQUARE 1. 5104 City Centre B3 Statue of George Dawson 21.1.70 and surrounding railings (formerly listed as Dawson Monument under Chamberlain Place) SP 0686 NE 33/10 II 2. Stone statue of George Sawson (1821-1876) by Thomas Woolner, 1880, in a modern setting utilising part of the sates from the entrance to the old Reference Library. They are about 12 ft high ham a rosette pattern and were executed in the late C19 by the Birmingham Guild Company.
