Description Dai-Seshi Bosatsu, woodcore, gold paint over black lacquer coating. From Japan, Edo period, 1705. Collection Goldmann. Located at the Museum für Ostasiatische Kunst, Berlin-Dahlem. The signature at the base translated reads:Dai-Seishi Bosatsu, carved on the 25th day of the 7th month of the 2nd year of the Hōei-Era (1705) by the great Buddhist master. The signature at the back of the statue reads:On the 25th day of the 7th month of the 2nd year of the Hōei-Era (1705), given by the construction master Takabayashi Matabei Shigeyuki.
