Summary edit

Description
English: Mute Swan (Cygnus olor), Linlithgow Loch In many parts of Britain, a large percentage of the Mute Swan population is now colour-ringed. Birds are caught by licensed ringers and metal rings placed on one leg, while a colour-ring (known as a Darvic ring, after the type of plastic used) is often added, with a unique colour and three-letter combination. Life histories of many birds are, consequently, known in some detail.
