Description
English: Sunrises calculated by Erwin Reidinger on the basis of the research results on the axis bend on the orientation days of the Parish Church of St. Peter im Moos in the Neue Welt landscape near Muthmannsdorf, municipality Winzendorf-Muthmannsdorf, district Wiener Neustadt-Land District, Lower Austria / Austria / EU. The background photo shows the horizon in the east towards the sunrise (metaphor for Jesus Christ) with the forests of the Fischau foothills. The prominent hill is the Burgstall to the south-east of Muthmannsdorf. A total of six orientation days can be identified, four of which relate to the Romanesque foundation building from 1136 and two to the Gothic choir extension from 1418 (see floor plan). Remarkable is the agreement of the calculated sunrises, which follow the terrain of the natural horizon. The axis of the nave (foundation building) can be extended into the sunrise on the patron saint's day of Peter and Paul (29 June). Other building lines are oriented according to the following church days. The alignment of the north wall to the 7th Sunday after Pentecost and that of the south wall to the 8th Sunday after Pentecost and that of the Romanesque choir to the 9th Sunday after Pentecost. Since Pentecost is a variable church festival, the sunrise pattern differs by yearu and is therefore not repeated again until 1383. The axis of the choir from 1418 follows the Romanesque axis from 1136, the north wall is aligned with the feast day of Mary Magdalene (22 July) and the south wall with the 9th Sunday after Pentecost 1418.
