Summary edit

Description
English: My grandad's "Oul turf spade", Errigle. This is the spade that survived a fire in an outhouse in April, 1962, besides being about 70 -80 years old, it is a for a right-footed person, which my grandfather was. It is more usual for people to be left footed just like the majority of persons are right-handed. You can see the blackened shaft on the spade which would have been made locally and it was nearly destroyed in a fire here 1058893. The ironic thing is that there is no turf to cut in the bog now, as a plantation of trees has been growing there for the last 30–40 years.
