This striking building in Nuremberg was created by the architect Heinrich Seeling. He had to keep his design for the Altnürnberger construction. And so the building is adorned with turrets, gables and stylistic elements of the Gothic and the Renaissance. When the opera was opened after 4 years of construction in September, 1905, the building had cost about 4.5 million Reichsmarks and was thus the most expensive theater of his time in Europe. |
