Description

Tropical Cyclone Evan developed in the South Pacific Ocean on Dec. 12 and immediately caused regional warnings to be posted. In American Samoa, a gale warning and storm watch were in effect for Tutuila, Aunuu, Manua and Swains Island. NASA's Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission or TRMM satellite passed above an intensifying Tropical Cyclone Evan on Dec. 11 at 1759 UTC (12:59 p.m. EST/U.S.) and saw the heaviest rainfall occurring (green) in the southern quadrant of the storm.
