Summary edit

Description

NSF and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched an international joint initiative, Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER), to address global development challenges. The program capitalizes on competitively awarded investments to support and build scientific and technical capacity in the developing world. NSF Director Subra Suresh, USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah and White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director John P. Holdren spoke at the ceremony held on July 7, 2011, at NSF's headquarters in Arlington, Va., to mark the launch of this innovative project. To learn more, see the NSF news release.
