NYTimes 1981-2008: Superheroes. This is a visualization of the frequency of the words 'Superman', 'Batman' and 'Spider-man' in New York Times articles since 1981. The big spikes are all surrounding the release of movies. It's interesting to see two things: the climb of Spider-Man from obscurity to household name, and the general increase of mentions of superheroes as a whole. |
