Summary edit

Description
English: The newly-named British Rail Class 31 diesel locomotive 31271 Stratford 1840-2001 at the National Railway Museum in York during the Rail200 railfest in 2004. The name was chosen to commemorate the locomotive former Stratford locomotive depot that closed to make way for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. The young girl in the cab is a good illustration of the access to the footplates and cabs of almost all the locomotives on display, from the 1847 LNWR 2-2-2 Cornwall to a Virgin Pendolino first built in 2001.
