Summary edit
DescriptionNaneghat, Murbad - Maharashtra.jpg |
English: Naneghat (Nane means coin in marathi and ghat is a mountain pass)
Located near Junnar in Pune district. In olden days (ranging till the times of Satvahanas dynasty) this route was used for trade - to carry stuff from sea side (Konkan region/Kalyan port) to ghat region i.e. to Junnar and from there further in Pune district. Then toll was collected from the people who will use this route, toll used to be collected in the stone vessel (As seen in attached image). Terrain used to be very rough filled with stones, thus commodities were loaded on the bulls' back. This path has great historic importance in the development of areas like Junnar and near by places in Pune district. |
