Summary edit
DescriptionNash Court - geograph.org.uk - 351015.jpg |
English: Nash Court Nash Court is a Georgian mansion originally built in 1713 but rebuilt after riot damage in 1715.
Hasted says "fitted up within these few years with much taste in the modern stile," possibly for Colonel Montressor, one time tenant of Belmont Park, Throwley. Restored before 1878, but maintaining main lines of 1790 engraving. Architects unknown. (See Hasted, VII, 3 + 10, B.0.E. Kent II, 1983, 152). Presumably the riots were in protest against the coronation of George I. Note the giant redwood towering behind the house - see the Redwood World site http://www.redwoodworld.co.uk/picturepages/boughtonstreet.htm The cattle and sheep in the foreground are part of the Farming World http://www.farming-world.com/ collection. |
