Notes
  • Significance: The National Park Inn is located within the proposed Longmire Historic District and is considered to be a contributing element of the district. Built in 1917, the National Park Inn is the oldest surviving lodging facility in the park and a reminder of Longmire's heyday as the park's first developed area. The district illustrates the National Park Service's (NPS) rustic style of architecture as it was practiced in the 1920s and 1930s by the NPS. Characteristics of the rustic style at Longmire include the use of native or natural materials (stone and wood), dark forest colors and irregular siting to harmonize with the environment. Earlier structures predating the NPS era, such as the National Park Inn, are compatible with the NPS-designed buildings in terms of their design, scale and use of materials.
