English: Plaque in front of the copper beech in Carl von Ossietzky Park in Moabit, Berlin. Translation: "This copper beech was recognized as a natural landmark due to its beauty and typical regional characteristics. The species is native to Europe and Asia Minor and, due to its blood-red colouring, is a valuable specimen tree for parks and green spaces. Its fruit is oleiferous and edible (beech nuts). The wood is very hard and is used, for example, for railroad sleepers."
