Photograph of a Navajo man sitting in front of his hogan, ca.1900. The conical hogan is covered with earth. The rough-hewn timbers of the underlying structure are exposed at top where an opening allows light in and smoke from a campfire to escape. A shallow basin or basket sits above the entry which is closed with a hanging blanket. A man and three horses are visible in the background.
