DescriptionNeighbours from hell^ - geograph.org.uk - 216356.jpg |
English: Neighbours from hell? Remains of an anti-tank wall on Station Road, Ottringham, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. At the start of WW2, walls like this one were built in staggered fashion on either side of (and encroaching on) the road so that vehicles had to slow almost to a stop in order to weave through the gap. Large concrete cylinders were kept nearby, to be rolled into the gaps and stood on end in the event of an invasion. |
