Description

This tiny hoverfly keys out to either Neoascia tenur or geniculata. The upper and lower marginal cross veins are clear. The conical face and entirely black tip to the hind femur point to tenur. The black abdomen is a feature common to females of both species. The shape of the 3rd abdominal segment would be useful in telling these species apart but is difficult to assess from this photograph.
