Im Jahre 1890 bewilligte das hohe Ministerium des Innern, nachdem der berühmte Bildhauer Professor Hähnel mit dem Baurat Lipsius eine Lokalbesichtigung vorgenommen hatte, der Kirchgemeinde einen kostbaren Schmuck für den neuen Turm. Auf Rechnung des Kunstfonds fertigte der Bildhauer August Herzig aus Savonnières (französischem Muschelkalk), zwei etwas überlebensgroße, die Apostel Petrus und Paulus darstellende Figuren, welche im Jahre 1891 durch den Künstler selbst hier zur Aufstellung gelangten. Die- selben Figuren hat Verfasser später polichromiert und in verkleinertem Maßstabe in der Kirche zu Glashütte zu beiden Seiten des Triumphbogens vorgefunden. |
