Description New Orleans: Air view of the 1940s U. S. Naval Air Station on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain. View is looking eastwards. The Pontchartrain Beach Amusement Park grounds are seen just beyond the airport. This area is now part of the University of New Orleans campas. The body of water joining with Lake Pontchartrain at the bottom of the photo is the mouth of the London Avenue Canal.
