Roland Park, Md. In June, 1917, he enlisted in Naval Aviation; and in Aug. wasassigned to the M.I.T. Ground School, after which he was taughtpractical aviation at Pensacola, Fla., in charge of Flight B. He wascommissioned Ensign at Pensacola in Jan., 1918. Ensign Adamsthen trained in aerial gunnery at Fort Worth, Tex.; after which hewas sent to Hampton Roads, Va., for work in large hydroplanes. On account of his proficiency as an aviator, but much to his ownregret, he was then detailed to teach Aviation at Bay Shore, N.Y.,where he remained until flying at that station was suspended onaccount of the cold weather. He was then sent to Brunswick, Ga.,where he remained but a short time, being detailed for office workin the Naval Operations Department, at Washington, D.C. Earlyin the spring of 1919 he was again transferred to Hampton Roads,where he is now in the experiment squadron of aviation. Shortly after his return to Hampton Roads, Ensign Adams wasenrolled in the Regular Navy. ( 412 )

ROGER AMORY Major A.S.A., Detached Service Son of Charles B. and Lily C. Amory; was born in Boston, Mass.,March 28, 1887. He was educated at Milton Academy, and atHarvard College, A.B. 1910. Prior to the war he served three yearsin Troop B, 1st Squad, M.V.M., 1908 to 1911. He enlisted at Newport News, Va., on May 3, 1917, and hadpreliminary training at the M.I.T. Ground School; flying trainingat Newport News, Va., and Mineola, N.Y. He was on duty at theSchool of Military Aeronautics, Austin, Tex.; Kelly Field, SanAntonio, Tex.; and at Office of Director of Military Aeronautics,Washington, D.C. He was commissioned Capt., Sept., 1917; Major,Oct. 1918. He was honorably discharged at Washington, D.C, onJan. 6, 1919. Brothers in Service — Charles B.
