Description 750 mm by 750 mm (30 in by 30 in) New Mexico state road shield, made to the specifications of the PS&E Standard Drawings, which specifies a 30" by 30" shield for 3-digit roads. Pictures of actual shields were also used for reference. Uses the Roadgeek 2005 fonts. (United States law does not permit the copyrighting of typeface designs, and the fonts are meant to be copies of a U.S. Government-produced work anyway.)

Public domain This file is in the public domain because it is prescribed by the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, sign number M1-NM-5. The New Mexico Department of Transportation has adopted the 2003 version of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (herein referred to as the MUTCD) adopted by the Federal Highway Administrator as a National Standard for application on all classes of highways, subject to such modifications as is set forth in this supplement." The 2003 federal MUTCD states specifically on its page I-1 that:
Any traffic control device design or application provision contained in this Manual shall be considered to be in the public domain. Traffic control devices contained in this Manual shall not be protected by a patent, trademark, or copyright, except for the Interstate Shield and any other items owned by FHWA.

No provisions of the supplement modify this provision of the MUTCD.
