DescriptionNintendo-64-wController-R.jpg | The Nintendo 64, a fifth generation gaming console released by Nintendo in 1996, over a year later than its rivals the Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation. It was the most powerful of the fifth generation systems, but was severely hindered by some design challenges and its use of cartridge media. Those challenges and the launch delay caused many third party companies (who had worked with Nintendo on its previous system) to jump ship to the Sony PlayStation. The N64 sold over 30 million consoles in its lifetime, coming second to the PlayStation. | |||
