Description
English: c/n 124-48306

Built at Dallas, Texas in 1945 and delivered to the USAAF with the serial 45-11553. Sold off in 1957 and initially civil registered as N5415V. After seven further registrations she settled on N51VF in 1998 and is now painted with the markings of the 4th Fighter Group P-51B-7-NA flown by Don Gentile (43-6913). The tail number she wears is neither the tail number of Gentile's P-51B or the original tail number for this airframe. Instead, it is the tail number of a Mexican based P-51D (44-72934 / XB-HVL) which is ALSO painted in the markings of Gentile's aircraft but carries its genuine tail number 472934. I can only assume that when N51VF was painted, it was exactly copied from the Mexican machine including the tail number(Only invasion stripess is different). She is seen on the warbird ramp at the 2019 Wings over Houston Airshow. Ellington Airport, Houston, Texas.
